Developments at CERN-ISOLDE’s OFFLINE 2 mass separator facility for studies of molecular ion beams

چکیده

ISOLDE’s Offline 2 laboratory has been upgraded to facilitate development for the production and study of molecular ion beams. New gas injection systems have implemented both formation in source radio-frequency quadrupole trap used beam preparation. MagneToF detectors time-resolved single counting data acquisition low intensity beams studies laser-atom or laser-molecule interactions. We present a ionization BaF+ using facility.

The Cern Heavy Ion Accelerating Facility

CERN’s Lead Ion Accelerating Facility has been operating successfully for its first physics run. The facility, supported financially by some member states and designed, built and installed in a collaboration with several other laboratories (not only from member states), features a completely new linac and a major up-grade of the existing CERN machines. This paper reviews the design philosophy a...

Ion source developments for stable and radioactive ion beams at Ganil

Since now many years, the Ganil ion source team deals with high charge state and radioactive ion beam production. Concerning radioactive ion production, the recent results obtained, in collaboration with the ISN Grenoble group, with the 1+/n+ method drove us to develop a new concept of ecr ion source for monocharged ion production. The results of the first tests of this source are given. This n...

The Production of Radioactive Ion Beams for the Excyt Facility

The EXCYT facility (EXotics with CYclotron and Tandem) at the INFN-LNS is under completion and its commissioning with Li as the first radioactive beam is foreseen by the end of 2004. In the following, we report the work done with an emphasis on the measured yields and production efficiencies for 8, Li

European Organization for Nuclear Research Cern - Ps Division (bd) the Production of Dense Lead-ion Beams for the Cern Lhc

To reach the design luminosity for lead-ions in the LHC, the present Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) has to be converted into a Low Energy Ion Ring (LEIR). Since the present ECR lead-ion source does not provide sufficient intensity, the main goal of LEIR is to act as a low-energy (4.2MeV/u) accumulator where the ion beam is stacked and cooled (with the help of an electron-cooler) to reach the...
